The Poltava region people keep А. І. Zygin in their minds well. He was among those who brought the long-awaited liberation to it after hard fighting and the front roads in September 1943. It was a short but memorable meeting: having his dusty coat on and just come he went to the people. The outspoken, brave person with a barely noticeable smile. The general spoke about the upcoming battle for Dnieper ... Such he in bronze stands on the high pedestal in the city center till now. In the bas-relief begirding the pedestal there are episodes from the history of the Great Patriotic War. The Chestnut Alley shows a way to the larger square called after the General Zygin. Zygin perished in autumn 1943 on Poltava land and was buried in Poltava, in the park named after Kotliarevsky. He had gone the glorious path of a warrior. During the Civil War Zygin took part in the defeat of troops lead by Krasnov, Denikin, Wrangel, during the Great Patriotic War he commanded the 4th Guard Army that liberated Left Bank Ukraine from Nazi invaders. The monument created by the sculptor L. E. Karbala, V. E. Tsyhal and architect A. D. Zakharov. The monument has been unveiled in 1957. | |
