Kasyan Mykola Andriyovych
Mykola Andriyovych Kasyan - bone-setter from Poltava, who is known outside the country. He was offered to practice abroad, but he did not even want to leave his loved Kobelyaky, more so the country. The quantity of his patients are uncountable, because in a summer day the doctor took a hundred people a day.
Mykola Kasyan was born April 10, 1937 in the village Berezhnivka Kobelyaky Region in prestigious family. All his ancestors were bone-setter. Great-grandfather was working as far back as Czar in Zemstvo county hospital. Autodidact, he helped many sick people. The grandfather was also a bone-setter, treated patients for 90 years. In the attic of their house lay the bones on which father studied the structure of human... There, except for small Mykola, none of the kids climbed - feared.
As a young man Mykola Kasyan wanted to study at the Art Institute - painted very well. He could succeed in the literature - even once won second place in poetry contest of "Komsomolskaya Pravda" newspaper, having let pass only Robert Rozhdestvensky.
Being a schoolboy he sent his first poem to Pavlo Tychyna. Pavlo Grygorovych sent Kasyan newspaper where it was published, and a letter of wishes and advice "the young one". One day his father said:" Son, you must learn this good deed. People will really need your help". Then Mykola swore him that will master manual therapy.
1960 graduated from Kharkiv Medical Institute. From May 1960 to June 1961 worked as deputy chief doctor Tovstenskoho Raion. From June 1961 to April 1964 he served in the Army (MOOP Tselinogradska region, Kazakh SSR).
In the years 1964-1969 served as head physician of Verhnedneprovsk district sanitary-epidemiological station in Dnipropetrovsk region.
From 1970 to 2002 worked as a doctor at Lishchynivka neuropsychiatric boarding school in Poltava region Kobelyaky district.
Officials were preventing by all means Kasyan's father, Andry Ivanovych, from treatment. But he managed to resist the attacks of regime, what is more - delivered his son Mykola the knowledge. Father known bone-setter was tried eight times. Many times some officials said to Mykola Andriyovych: "Did not manage to rot your father, then you will be certainly rot!". Prosecution, slander, persecution - there was everything. Checking went after checking - in one 80-th to genius doctor was sent 22 commission! What shortcuts they were hanging on Kasyan: charlatan, a conman, fool, but just wanted the healer to work under the wing of Health authorities.
Many people asked the bone-setter for help, but there were no working conditions. A few years later a prominent doctor got an office - Disinfection Department at sanitary station. Patients were received in the room where stood a camera for disinfection of linen. Ministry assigned Kasyan a nurse that registered visitors. At the same time Ministry recognized its duty was done - nither nurse nor Mykola Andriyovych received money for their work. Treated for free and the number of interested was very big. The reception began at four-five o'clock in the morning. This way Kasyan worked for almost a year until the account was charged. It turned out, for every electric light bulb physician must pay 50 rubles per month and 250 rubles per room. Mykola Kasyan moved to the hotel room, and when there ceased to heat, decided to take people home.
Healer had enough, when once again was sent the commission and Minister of Health of Ukraine Romanenko handed to the prosecutor of the republic materials to bring to justice Kasyan. In desperation, the brilliant doctor almost committed suicide.
There was an interesting case in medical practice of Mykola Kasyan. From St. Petersburg for treatment came two women who had problems with back. Mykola Andriyovych, examined them, said that recovery takes time, month they will have to go to his appointment. After several sessions of manual therapy, one woman decided to return to Russia, where she will be opereted and in a week back on her feet. The second woman run a full course of treatment at Kasyan. A few years Kobeliaky received a letter from a woman who was treated in Mykola Kasyan: the firs woman received disability, and patient of genius bone-setter again returned to normal life.
Mykola Kasyan built in Kobelyaky Center of manual therapy. Mykola Andriyovych was very proud of room, where the paintings, photographs, certain things, gifts, souvenirs of numerous guests from everywhere were. He called it museum.
There are many publications about the Great bone-setter - and not just in the national press, there are articles in Japanese, Italian, Chinese.
Probably easier to list those people who have not been in Kasyan than those who passed through his hands. Among them - the famous astronauts, pilots, politicians, singers, TV presenters. The museum has pictures of the doctor with Vladimir Vinokur, Sofia Rotaru, Taisiya Povaliy, Mykola Baskov, Boris Oleinik, Valentina Tolkunova, Gennady Khazanov, Alexei Batalov, Yan Tabachnik. A lot of shots with Joseph Kobzon, but it is not surprising, as a singer is a kum of Mykola Kasyan.
Once upon a time in Kobelyaki began the construction of Center of manual therapy. But when the building was finished almost 90%, construction stopped. Smart "masters" quickly dismantled the structure for their own needs. It remains only place that remembered a doctor about his stolen dream.
Many times, then raised the question of building the Center of manual therapy, and there were many promises, but nothing was done.
And it was so until then, until from Kiev to Kobelyaky came tv journalist Oksana Marchenko. In her programme she said that the world-famous healer takes hundreds of people every day in unsuitable conditions (in the hospital, at home, at hotel). This caused interest in this problem and helped to build the Center.
Locals earn good money on the name of doctor: produce mineral water in his name, trade varnish calendars with his bright face, rent rooms to patients who come from all over the CIS. Another on the place of Kasyan would make a long nose, and even get its own halo, but healer did not make a saint of himself.
Great bone-setter visited 43 countries. He loved the most China and Japan. Repeatedly offered him to stay in America, Germany and Italy.
- I'll never leave my native Kobelyaky - said Mykola Andriyovych. - Everything here is native - air, nature, earth. Each foreign country in its own good, everywhere there are good people... But my town Kobelyaky - most native and best in the world.
When the son of Mykola Andriyovych decided to study in Moscow, military music school of the Ministry of Defence, Kasyan almost left native Kobelyaky. Minister, Marshal of Soviet Union Sokolov helped with the entry. A few days later he called the doctor and invited him with his wife to reception. Kasyan was proposed with five-room apartment in downtown. But Nicholay Kasyan, having discussed everything in the family, refused to move.
In 1993 the name of the doctor was brought to the Guinness Book. For a year he has corrected 41 251 vertebral disc.
Died Mykola Kasyan morning October 28, 2009 in Kobelyaky, here was buried. In November of that year Kobelyaky central street was renamed in his honor.
