Koshovy Oleg
During the war with Germany, on the occupied territory, in Krasnodon Voroshylovhrad (now Luhansk) region in September 1942 was established Komsomol underground organization "Young Guards" ("Moloda Hvardiya"), the ranks of which one of the first hit Oleg Koshovy.
The organization distributed leaflets in the city that inspired faith in a quick victory over the hated enemy,
organized sabotage, liberated from the captivity Soviet prisoners of war. Germans got into a rage, because could not catch the young patriots.
In January 1943 organization of Young Guards suffered a failure. Most of its members were arrested by the Germans. After prolonged interrogation and torture members were shot and dumped in a deep pit of a mine.
After the liberation of Krasnodon from Nazi invaders, the bodies of the brave ones from underground were taken from mine and buried with honors.
After the war, the most active members of the organization: Oleg Koshovy, Ivan Zemnukhov, Lubov Shevtsova, Sergii Tyulenin, Uliana Gromova were posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
Poltavites proud of the fact that before the war Oleg Koshovy lived in our city. In 1932-1933 years he studied first at 2nd male school, and then in the 8th School on Karl Liebknecht Street.
In the famine years, seeking a better life, his family moved to their relatives through the maternal line in Krasnodon. There they were cought by the war.
From the very beginning of German occupation, Oleg is actively involved in the fight against invaders. Heroic feat of the members of Yang Guards was described in the novel "Young Guard" by writer Alexander Fadeiev. The book was published as far back as 1946 and became widely known in the Soviet Union. Sergii Gerasimov shot a feature film on the book of the same name. Whole classes and groups went to the premiere of this picture. Watched several times, almost knew by heart the story and actors.
In April 1981 in memory of Oleg Koshovy in Poltava was opened the memorial tablet on the building of the 8th school. In the board - a bas-relief of the hero and the inscription: "In this school in 1933, studied Oleg Koshovy - Commissioner of Komsomol underground organization "Young Guard", Hero of the Soviet Union".
