Olga Bezpalkiv
Olga Bezpalkiv is Ukrainian artist of arts and crafts. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 1980).
In 1965 Olga Bezpalkiv graduated from the Lvov branch of artistic ceramics school of applied and decorative arts of the Ivan Trush. In 1971 she graduated from Lvov State Institute of applied and decorative arts gained
the specialty of artist of arts and crafts.
In 1972-1996 she worked as a ceramic artist in Lvov at the Sculptural ceramics factory. Since 1996 she used to assistant to the drawing Ukrainian Forestry University in Lvov. Now Olga is a senior lecturer in landscape architecture, landscape management and urboekology in the National Forestry University of Ukraine.
Joint graduate work of Olga and her husband, Roman - tile in the museum "Olesky castle" - was based on the history of the castle of 15 century. Work praised colleagues, critics, historians. The continuation of this theme was a series of decorative works on the architecture of Ukraine.
Olga’s expressive plastic means reveals features of each monument, creating with a highly artistic reliefs: "Black Kamenica", "House Kornyakta", "Bernardine Church," "Chapel of the Three Saints" and others who serve the noble cause of promoting national culture and history.
These works and other applications are being made on souvenir Ceramics Lvov experimental sculpture and ceramics factory, where the artist productively working on the creation of samples for mass replication. Made in 1970-1980 jugs, tiles, bottle, mug, solved by means of painting and relief, have a story images gleaned from the treasury of Ukrainian folklore. Figure compositions in several grotesque images complemented by witty and instructive folk proverbs, reinforcing their national character.
Olga Bezpalkiv in her works pays particular attention to crafts. Square decanters "Potter" and "Gutnik," "The Blacksmith" and "Carpenter", "weaver" and "Evening", "Shoemaker" and "Hatter", “Feet go and hand feed," "Who makes a vital, it probably goes " - a tribute to the beauty and respect for the working man.
Simultaneously, Olga is working in the field of monumental and garden ceramics, processing decorative panels in buildings for recreation and health facilities (district and regional children's libraries, The Lvov’s Plant Himsilmash, in the dispensary, in the club of Palikorovy vilage, children's clinic in Kiev, in sanatorium in Truskavets).
Particular link in the work of Olga Bezpalkiv an exhibition activities. Since 1971 Olga Bezpalkiv participates in regional, national and international exhibitions. Works of the artist affect both formalistic findings, and a national theme. Works "Burden," "Conflict," "Duma," "The Raven" convince us that Lvov ceramics, along with other arts and applied branches, in contrast to the fine arts have existed more or less freely in party politics censorship and ideological pressure.
The artist experimented with the expressive, lyrical, sarcastic, grotesque means of sculptural plastic. The associative view of the topic in the works of Olga Bezpalkiv supplemented innovative plastic manner and technical virtuosity of execution.
Repeatedly Olga Bezpalkiv invited to creative workshops, where she ably represented the school Lvov ceramics and has been awarded diplomas and prizes. Works of "Heat", "Wind", "Silence", performed at the symposium of ceramics Dzintari (Latvia) in 1987 for the exhibition-competition of ceramics in Faenza, were marked by a diploma.
In 2001 at a symposium in the city Slavyansk of Donetsk region artist has received two awards - in the "Monumental ceramic sculpture" and for the work "Shift" in the nomination "Vizualizm of reality" for work "Yesterday, now and always". The exhibition-contest in the village Opishnya of Poltava region work "Games E" won the first prize in the category "Professional Ceramic of small forms".
In a creative artist’s baggage there are several personal exhibitions in Lvov and Kiev. The latest exhibition of "Fun, games and stuff" was held this year at the Museum of Modern Art in Lvov.
Works made in 1990-2000 a re differ and more bright. If the approach to the figurative associative address topical issues of contemporary artist remains constant, the plastic solution of these works is free from the previous findings and demonstrates the high creative potential of their author. The creative personality of Olga Bezpalkiv encourages, inspires creative thinking of her students. Working ten years at the Department of Landscape Architecture National Forestry University of Ukraine, she teaches the subject "Drawing", "Composition" and "History of Architecture and Urban Planning". Olga is enriching students forming their own experience and expression, trying to teach them not only academic school, but their independent search for the author's manners. That positively affects the educational process of the department. Olga Bezpalkiv is a mentor of young people in the way of life formation. The teacher develops training guidelines, is working on a manual three-dimensional arrangement for the students.
Ceramic of the artist adorns museums, art galleries in many cities in Ukraine and abroad, enriching the treasury of world art.
Olga Bezpalkiv creates new original works of ceramics, characterized by the idea, a bold interpretation of plastic and technical skill of mastery, which is indicative of the talent and professionalism of their author.
