Oliynyk Boris Ivanovytch
Boris Ivanovytch Oliynyk comes from a family of government personnel. The father of the poet at first worked as miner, and later – as the regional newspaper editor. In 1943 his father was killed in the war.
He began writing poetry at school age. He had "trampled path to fifth grade of Zachepilovska seven year
school" when he saw in Novosanzharska newspaper "By the path of Lenin" his small poem.
Since 1958, after graduating from the department of journalism of Kiev Taras Shevchenko University, worked in the newspaper "Youth of Ukraine". In 1959 saw the world documentary novel "Behind Seversky Donets", and in 1962 - the first collection of poetry "Against the rock hit blacksmiths". This gave rise to writing new poems, philosophical works. Poet of high culture and civic duty, B.A. Oliynyk focuses on the most important issues of time, persistently sustains high humanistic ideals, struggling with evil. Lyricism, simplicity, proximity to peoples' song works is celebrated intimate lyrics of Boris Oliynyk. With particular tenderness poet writes about his mother.
The power of talent of Boris Oliynik expressed with particular completeness and versatility in the field of poetic forms, especially poems. He belongs to the most respected Ukrainian artists of the second half of the twentieth century.
B. Oliynyk - USSR State Prize Laureate (1975) and the USSR T.G. Shevchenko State Prize (1983), a famous public figure, member of the Supreme Soviet and a member of Parliament of several convocations of independent Ukraine.
