Pavlovsky Ivan
Historian, archivist, jurist. Born in v. Bobrove Kaluga province. In 1854 the family moved to Mirgorodskii county. In 1870 graduated from Poltava gymnasium, and in 1874 - department of History and Philology of Kiev University. Then, for almost 40 years lectured the history at the Petrovsky Poltava Cadet Corps.
In the years 1903-1917. worked as secretary of the Poltava Archives Commission established by his
initiative.
I. Pavlovsky - organizer of the Poltava Battle Museum, which was opened on the day of celebrating the 200-years anniversary of the Battle of Poltava. This he - the first head of this museum. Wrote more than 100 monographs in the history of the province of Poltava, and a detailed biography of Kotlyarevsky. Prominent works: "Little Russian Cossack militia in the Crimean War" and "The history of the Decembrists."
In 1912 he compiled "Short biographical dictionary of scientists, writers of Poltava".
Articles by Ivan Pavlovsky were published in the magazines "Russian Antiquities", "Poltava Diocesan Gazette" and other publications.
Today in History Museum of the Battle of Poltava is created a separate exhibition on the work of I. Pavlovsky.
