POLTAVA – THE GREENEST CITY OF UKRAINE!
On the 14th of July at Poltava City Administration a weekly meeting took place. It was carried out by the Secretary of the City Council Olexandr Kozub. The participants of this meeting discussed the progress of works concerning planting of greenery in the city and keeping urban forestry in proper condition. According to Sergiy Silayev, the General Manager of the utility company ‘Dekoratyvni kultury’ (‘Decorative Cultures’), in April-May there were planted trees and bushes in total amount of 3 thousand pieces. There was also conducted a reconstruction of green plantations in Corpusnyi Park, Sorrowful Mother, Pavlenkivskiy and Sunny Parks. There was laid the foundation of Journalist Alley in Vatutina Str. and ‘Klenova Alleya’ (Chestnut Alley) in B. Hmelnytskyi avenue.
There were planted flower beds with total area of 6450 square meters.
In the result of the effective cooperation between the City Administration and private entrepreneurs, there was accomplished a vertical planting of greenery of the supports of lights in Zhovtneva Str, Chestnut Alley and partially in Lenin Str. It was planned to carry works concerning accomplishment and reconstruction of parks in P. Yurchenko Str. and Pavlenkivska square.
And regarding current Leninskyi Komsomol Park, the City Administration is making big plans on it.
According to Iryna Osobik, the chief painter, on these slopes there will be a landscape park in ethnic style. It is suggested to name it in honour of Marusya Churay. On the car parking, they are planning to make lawns and to install a grate, on which it would be possible to park cars without any harm to the grass. All the sources of water, which are in this park, will be also brought in order and accomplished in Ukrainian style. Iryna Osobik emphasizes ‘Currently we have created a project group on landscape architecture, elaborated the scheme of planned limitations of building up to keep the existing green massifs’. This scheme was given into consideration of the deputies and Public Board under the jurisdiction of City Council. In the whole, Poltava has been remaining the greenest and ecologically cleanest city of Ukraine, and the City administration keeps working to enhance its glory.
